Every Easter growing up my grandmother got all the ladies in my family a lily corsage to wear on her dress. I thought it was so special as a little girl & dreamed of the day I’d be old enough to wear one. I was 11 or 12 when my grandmother finally included me in the “grown up ladies” & I got to wear an Easter corsage. I felt so grown up & fancy!
My grandma lives in another state now so we don’t get to see her on Easter. This year as I was thinking about her & the corsage tradition I felt inspired to include some flowers in my Sunday outfit. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to create the wildly popular flower crown.
If you’ve been to the mall recently, you’ve probably seen floral headbands everywhere. I had no clue they existed then I visited the mall & they were in almost every store I walked into. My first thought was, I could totally make that! & y’all can too! This is such an easy & quick project. I thought one of flower crowns would be the perfect accessory for my Easter dress & a lovely way to represent my grandmother’s corsage tradition. So I ran to Walmart for supplies & made the entire thing in less than 15 minutes.
Here’s how…
You’ll need flowers, felt, hot glue, stretchy headbands, fabric scissors, wire cutters.
Cut circular shapes out of the felt. Cut as many circles as flowers you’re going to use. I used 7 flowers on mine.
Use wire cutters to cut the flowers away from the stems.
Hot glue the flower to the stretchy band.
Then hot glue a circle of felt on top of the headband over the flower & hot glue.
Continue until you’ve glued all the flowers on you want. I used 3 medium sized flowers in the middle & 2 small flowers on each size.
Tada! Easy as pie flower headband crown. The perfect Easter accessory or spring craft. These will be so cute with swimsuits at the beach or a simple sundress.
Excuse my selfie! I just wanted to get a photo of the headband on an actual head!
Hope y’all like it!
